Holy Rood Cemetery is the cemetery of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Morristown, New Jersey, and welcomes Catholic families from the Morristown area and beyond.
The original cemetery, known as St. Mary’s Cemetery, was located behind Assumption Church. In 1875, that parcel of land was a full tract of land consisting of approximately 15 acres fronting Whippany Road.
Among the 12,000 people presently buried at Holy Rood Cemetery are Assumption’s former pastors, civil war soldiers, and relatives of Paul Revere.
Many of the stained glass windows in the mausoleum chapels are originally from the old All Soul’s Hospital or from the historic Assumption Church building.
As dedicated and experienced servants to the Catholic Community, we are privileged to be of support before, during, and after the time of burial.
